Class of 2008
Anthony Caputo, Willing Servant of the Circle

This Brother, an Eagle Scout from Troop 237, was inducted into the Order as a member of Shu-Shu-Gah Lodge in 2000 and sealed his membership in the Brotherhood in 2001. He immediately began a strong history of service to both the Chapter and the Lodge. He served the former Eluwak Chapter as a member of numerous committees. In 2001, he was elected Eluwak Chapter Chief – a position he held for two terms. For his commitment to the Chapter, he was presented the Silver Heron Award in 2001.

On the Lodge level, he was a member of the Unit Service, Banquet, Trade-O-Ree, Publications and of course the Food Service, a.k.a. “Kitchen Slug” Committees. During 2002, he served as chairman of the Ordeal Committee and in both an official and unofficial capacity; he has been the Shows Chairman – always willing to lend his leadership when needed. As an elected officer, he served as both the Operational Vice Chief and Executive Vice Chief in 2003 and 2004, respectively.

This year, he continued his service to Shu-Shu-Gah and the other Lodges in our Circle by taking on the responsibility of one of the most important roles in the Section – that of Conclave Coordinator. Since well over a year ago, he has worked unceasingly to ensure that the activities of the event will be of the same high caliber for which Shu-Shu-Gah has always been known. With his leadership, we can be most certain that our Lodge will be shown proud in this, the final Conclave for Section NE2C.

During the four-year period from 2001-2004, he worked on the Camp Aquehonga Staff – devoting his entire summer to serving Scouts in the camp setting – just as when the Order was founded. In his year as a Counselor-in-Training, he showed himself to always be one willing to pitch-in wherever needed – even during those times when the jobs were difficult and came with no recognition.

One recommendation read “A fixture in the Lodge since his induction, he has always been someone who could be counted on to handle any given assignment without complaint or burdening his fellow Brothers. He is one of Shu-Shu-Gah’s most faithful Arrowmen who has returned to serving our Lodge while still patriotically serving our country.”

For exemplary service and dedication to his Lodge, his Section and his camp, the Vigil Honor is proudly bestowed upon Brother Anthony Caputo.

The Indian Name given is Nuwingi Allogagan Lakeyu, which is interpreted as Willing Servant of the Circle.

David Fagan, He Who Searches for Brothers

This Brother, an Eagle Scout from Troop 996, was inducted into the Order of the Arrow as a youth in 1997 and sealed his membership in the Brotherhood in 1999. He began his long history of service to both his Chapter and the Lodge, highlighted by his continued dedication to his home unit. He has served as an Elangomat several times and was elected as a youth officer of the Phoenix Chapter. His most notable service came as the Unit Service Chairman of first Phoenix, and later the lodge. For his dedicated service, he was presented the Silver Heron in 1999.

Since his days as a youth, this Brother’s dedication to his home unit has typified his commitment to the Scouting movement. Currently an Assistant Scoutmaster, he continues the work he began as a youth when he served, most markedly, as Troop Guide. Rarely missing a meeting since returning from college, he has never failed to provide the proper example or helping hand when needed. Consistent and devoted service to the boys of his troop has been a mainstay of his Scouting Career.

As a carryover from his days as a youth, this Brother has continued his unwavering devotion to gathering new members. Having just finished his second consecutive year as adviser of arguably the most difficult lodge committee, Unit Service, there have been few Brothers who have been as dedicated to growing the lodge. His exceptional service in this capacity has been a major component of the lodge’s success over the past two years and has worked to modernize, expand and improve the means by which new members are identified, elected and inducted. While ensuring his committee’s success through his tireless work, his ability to lead and serve his chairmen has never wavered.

One recommendation read: “While never failing to make sure the job gets done, he is unafraid of allowing the youth to take the reins and lead the committee in the right direction, a sign of a truly great adviser. He is able to do so because of his dedication to
setting the example, which is something he never fails to do. He is always willing to step up and carry the burden of his brothers and his lodge when no one else wishes to do so.”

For exemplary service and dedication to his chapter, lodge and home unit, the Vigil Honor is proudly bestowed upon Brother David Fagan.

The Indian Name given is Lattoniken Nimat, which is interpreted as He Who Searches for Brothers.
