February 10, 2000

Dear Brother,

It is my pleasure to be writing to you for the first time during our 75th Anniversary Year. Shu-Shu-Gah Lodge has a long history of tradition, friendship and service which has created memories that will last for a lifetime. One of the Executive Committee's goals for this year is to share and celebrate the past, so it may be used as a foundation to move forward into the 21st Century. The 75th Anniversary Committee has created several ways for all Brothers, both past and present, to be involved in celebrating our Diamond Anniversary. I would like to extend my personal invitation for you to participate in these activities.

  • On April 8, 2000 we will hold the 75th Anniversary Day & Dinner. This day will provide all Brothers with an opportunity to share all that is Shu-Shu-Gah Lodge. The celebration will be topped off with a first-class meal, and some special awards. In addition, all participants will receive a special, limited-edition 75th Anniversary lodge flap. Whether this is your 5th or 50th year in the Order of the Arrow, you are guaranteed to enjoy the fun and fellowship shared with your OA Brothers through the years.

  • In conjunction with this event, we are creating a journal that will include full-color images of every official Lodge & Chapter issue patch ever created. The history of Shu-Shu-Gah Lodge will be included, as well as some other interesting historical information. To fund this effort, we are selling space in the journal for advertisements, messages of congratulations, and boosters. Your support, shown by purchasing an ad, will ensure the journal's successful completion.

  • The 75th Anniversary Award Requirements were announced at the beginning of January, and many members are already well on their way to earning the award. While encouraging active participation in the Lodge's activities, it will be used to recognize those members who continue to make the Order of the Arrow an important part of their lives. The requirements checklist and instructions sheet has been included in this mailing.

If you are not currently registered, I invite you to get involved with Shu-Shu-Gah Lodge once again. The spirit of the Order of the Arrow is still very strong in Brooklyn, and its members continue to help Scouts realize their full potential in the Scouting Program. By re-registering with the Lodge you will receive all issues of The Blue Heron, as well as access to the special "Members Only" section of the Shu-Shu-Gah Website. Both of these resources will keep you informed of the various ways in which the Lodge continues to promote Brotherhood, Cheerfulness and Service in Brooklyn. A registration form with instructions should have been included with this letter.

Additional information about all of the above-mentioned items is included in this mailing. As always, for up-to-the minute details regarding everything in Shu-Shu-Gah Lodge, check out Shu-Shu-Gah Online, at www.shushugah.org. The 75th Anniversary Committee Chairman & Adviser, Phil C. [pc1@troop237.org] and Joe Amatrucola [joe@shushugah.org    917-452-2699] will also be glad to answer any questions you may have.

Yours in Brotherhood,

Steven M., Lodge Chief
